Downtown Beaufort

Living in a coastal town has so many perks and pluses, including the lifestyle and the myriad of activities that complement the salt air and sunshine so well. Beach-combing, sailing, surfing, painting the cool Carolina colors of sea and sky are just some of the things that woo folks into coming to Beaufort...and often win them over and make them stay. One of the most charming towns on the East Coast, Beaufort boasts a plethora of things to do:

  • Stroll along Front Street on Beaufort's waterfront and walk through shops, dine at restaurants, sip cocktails as you overlook the water and soak in the one-of-a-kind atmosphere...day and night!

  • Take a ride to Shackleford Banks or Cape Lookout aboard the Island Express Ferry Service.

  • Kayak or paddleboard utilizing many of Beaufort's rental services (or purchase your own and cruise Taylor's Creek on your own time!)

  • Visit the NC Maritime Museum to learn about the culture and history of this quaint Southern town.

  • Take your boat up and down Taylor's Creek to view Beaufort from a different perspective. Perhaps anchor your boat and walk around Carrot Island to hunt for shells or observe wild horses from afar.

  • Beaufort's calendar is always full of events, including a walking tour in and around the historic homes that have been standing for centuries

Downtown Morehead City

Morehead City's waterfront is a one-stop-shop to check off everything you need off of your social activity list. Whether you're craving fried seafood with little ones, watching blue marlin get weighed in at the Big Rock Landing weigh station, looking for the perfect gift or are wanting to enjoy a night out on the town with friends, the Morehead City Waterfront has all you need:

  • Enjoy fresh-caught seafood at a restaurant on the water, no matter if you're craving a relaxed and casual vibe, or a more upscale setting!

  • Grab a craft cocktail at one of Morehead's coveted bars – some crowd favorites include Promise Land Market and Arendell Room, both located right in the downtown strip.

  • Peruse the locally-owned shops full of beautiful gifts for anyone on your list.

  • Want to get a sweat in? The Downtown Barre offers daily classes, like barre, spin and heated yoga. DTB is also home to a boutique with exercise gear and accessories!

  • Morehead boasts a wonderful array of local artists, from pottery to oil on canvas and jewelry.

  • Every year, Morehead City is home to the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, where boats from all over the world spend the week in a fight for the biggest fish. The weigh station is conveniently located right in the middle of Downtown Morehead.

  • Hop on a charter and spend the day out at sea. If you're lucky, you'll come back to land with a bucket full of fish to put right on the grill!
